Michael Cinco

The Dubai-based Filipino couturier whose embellished gowns have dressed international stars.

Michael Cinco is a Filipino haute-couture designer who has been based in Dubai since 1997, opening his own atelier there in 2003. Born in the Philippines and trained in Manila and at Central Saint Martins in London, he became known for intricately embellished, crystal-worked gowns that have been worn by international celebrities.

From his Dubai base he built a global couture label and has shown his work internationally, including at Paris Fashion Week. His designs, often dramatic and heavily ornamented, have made him one of the most prominent Filipino figures in international fashion.

In 2014 he received the Philippines’ Presidential Award for outstanding Filipinos overseas, recognising his achievements abroad, and he has collected industry honours including a regional designer-of-the-year award. He remains an active couturier working out of Dubai.
