Micky Jagtiani
The late founder of Landmark Group, one of the Middle East and India’s largest retail conglomerates.
Mukesh “Micky” Jagtiani founded the Landmark Group in 1973 with a single store in Bahrain, and over the following decades built it into one of the largest retail and hospitality conglomerates across the Middle East and India. The Dubai-headquartered group operates thousands of outlets under brands including Max, Centrepoint, Home Centre, Splash, Babyshop and Lifestyle.
Jagtiani was widely regarded as a pioneer of modern retail in the Gulf, growing the business from a modest start into a household name across the region. In his later years he transitioned leadership of the group to his wife, Renuka Jagtiani, who serves as its chairwoman.
He died in May 2023 at the age of 70, prompting tributes from across the UAE’s business and government community. The group he founded remains a cornerstone of Gulf retail, now led by the next generation of the Jagtiani family.
