P.N.C. Menon
The founder of Sobha, whose Dubai arm Sobha Realty is among the emirate’s prominent developers.
P.N.C. Menon began with an interior-decoration business in Oman in 1976 before founding Sobha in Bangalore in 1995. The group’s UAE arm, Sobha Realty, has become a prominent Dubai developer, known for large master-planned communities such as Sobha Hartland. Menon serves as chairman emeritus, with his son Ravi Menon chairing the wider group.
Born in Kerala, Menon built Sobha into one of the better-known names in Gulf and Indian real estate over several decades. In 2018 he publicly pledged to give away around half of his wealth to charity, among a small group of Indian business figures to make such a commitment.
His philanthropy is channelled largely through the Sri Kurumba Educational and Charitable Trust, established in 1994, which supports education, healthcare, women’s empowerment and rural development in Kerala, including the adoption of villages in the Palakkad district. He remains one of the UAE property sector’s established entrepreneurs.
